Looking for a good, heartwarming story? The type perfect for cold nights, curled up by the fire? Looking for a series that will last you a long time but never bore you? What about a story with so many characters that have so many stories it’s all very interesting? Well, ka-ching! I have the perfecto stories for you. Reader, meet the Mitford Series, Mitford Series, meet reader. Now that we’re all acquainted, let’s get down to the beeswax. The Mitford series is a series about Father Tim, who’s a 60 some year old preacher, in a North Carolina mountain church. He lives in an itty bitty little town village thing, where everyone knows everyone.
There’s lots of characters. I was first introduced to the Mitford Series by my mother who, to put it lightly, is obsessed with these feel-good books. She also loves the author, Jan Karon, who has written many popular stories. I’m almost done with the first book, and I’m already really liking it. Father Tim has a good life. It’s pretty bizarre, but he handles his extreme schedule very well.
He gets a new neighbor, and has a growing relationship with her, meets a dog and decides to take it in, and meets a friend’s grandson, Dooley, who’s a orany boy who’s mother isn’t a good enough mother to him and his four siblings. Like I said, there are alot of characters. Just to name a few, Russell Jacks, Miss Sadie, Puny Bradshaw, and his new single neighbor lady friend, Cynthia Coppersmith, who’s a whimsical, cheery author and illustrator her of cat books, based off of her cat, Violet.
These stories are good for any age, and they’re great for a good before bed read. I’m planning to read more of these, and hopefully grow in my Mitford knowledge. But please try these stories, especially if you’re looking for a good one.
