Where do I start….. Today my family and I went to the theater and saw I Can Only Imagine. Let me just say this is probably one of the most incredible movies you’ll ever see.
This amazing true story is about Bart Millard, the lead singer for the popular Christian band MercyMe. It’s about (and named after) the famous song I Can Only Imagine that Bart wrote for the band, which started their fame.
They were recognized by Amy Grant and several other very famous Christian artists when the song was coming together. I Can Only Imagine has a triple-platinum album, which just gives you a view on how well-liked this beautiful song is.
But, this movie is not all about the song. As the movie’s motto goes, “The song you know. The story you don’t” Actually, Bart Millard had a very tough childhood. His dad abused him and his mom, his mom sends him to a Christian camp, but when Bart returns, his mother has left. His father continues to put him down with his discouraging words, which obviously doesn’t help when Bart is trying to find his calling in life. You can see how difficult this would be, right?
I won’t give it all away. But, I can say that this is an amazingly powerful movie. There are several twists and turns you don’t expect, which makes this film so entertaining. It also stars many wonderful actors and actresses, such as Dennis Quaid and Priscilla Shirer. I definitely recommend this movie. It’s a great movie for families, which gives it it’s PG rating.
I very much hope everyone sees this inspiring movie. It really is powerful. It gave me a sense of gratefulness for the loving parents I have, who would never walk away, leaving me to figure out life by myself. All I can say is that I Can Only Imagine is amazing, inspiring, powerful, emotional, and very moving in a spiritual sense. Go watch it!!!!
